The Knowledge
Pre-Production
- The film was written by Ginger Hodge, who worked in the Marketing and Acquisitions department of the video company
- UAV Corporation, which produced the film, specialized in films about dogs and horses.
- The name “Nacho Chihuahua” was partially chosen as a result of Disney shutting down “coattail-riding” films (that is, films that go out of their way to look like Disney films so they can profit off of confusion). Ginger chose the name to show other companies like Taco Bell that this was “Not your” (or Na-cho) chihuahua
Production
- Nacho Chihuahua was filmed in three days
- John Hardison, who plays Joe, used taking the role as an excuse to fly home from LA
- John has acted in other movies
- BONUS FACT: He was in the movie “April’s Shower”, which also features the actor who played the yellow-eyed bully in “A Christmas Story”
- Filming was catered, and according to John, the food was “awesome”
- There was an actual dog "trainer" on set, who used hotdogs to guide the chihuahuas
- "South of the Border" is an actual theme park in South Carolina. It is incredibly racist.
Post-Production
- Neither of the lead actors own(ed) copies of the movie
- Ginger couldn't make it through the entire film because of how disappointed she was with it
- Both lead actors turned down my offer of a free copy of the movie (but I mailed them anyway)
- Each of the actors has only seen the movie once
- The grocery store from the robbery scene has been torn down.
- The laundromat from the beginning of the film no longer exists.
- The cowboy in the film passed away in 2019.
- The box lists the film as 1 hour long, but the final 20 minutes of the tape are actually two complete episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, but with a different theme song.
- This movie is a piece of shit.
- I love this movie.
